It’s
nice to be recognized, or, so the saying goes.
When Ortivus asked to profile us I thought,
“That’s nice of them to want to recognize us.”
Then came the dilemma - how best to sum up more
than 18 years into a few short paragraphs?
We started out as a training company and as we
worked with our clients; they began asking us if
we could help them with various administrative
issues in addition to training…we did.
Eventually, billing came up and in 1989 (wow
that seems like a long time ago) we offered to
take on the billing process as an outsourced
service. We looked for the best commercially
available software on the market and chose
SweetSoft [the brand name of the software at the
time of purchase]. We have been using the
product ever since, moving through the various
versions as each release and upgrade has been
introduced.
We now bill for more than 75 clients, processing
more than 80,000 trips annually. Our billing
clients represent all sizes and types of
provider including non-profit EMS agencies,
municipal services, fire departments and
hospital based providers. We currently provide
EMS billing services to 36% of the agencies in
Connecticut that charge for service, and are
quickly becoming the largest provider of Fire,
Rescue and HazMat billing services in the state
as well.
There are a couple of things that make us unique
as a company; first is the award winning, HIPAA
compliant website that we developed as a way to
collect data from the patients…
www.AmbulanceBill.com. This site was developed
as a way to improve our customer service and
allows for 24/7/365 communication with patients.
We have been able to reduce our operating costs,
cut down on inbound billing calls and improve
client satisfaction. Now, we offer space on this
site to other agencies looking to improve their
patient contact ability.
The other unique tidbit about us is our sister
company, Holdsworth Pelton International, that
provides consulting and training services to all
types of companies worldwide. While we have
significant consulting experience with EMS and
Fire Department clients, we have also worked
with clients in 46 different industries, helping
them build better businesses.
Looking back - it’s amazing - all of what we do
has stemmed from a very simple concept:
we listened to our clients and gave them what
they asked for in a high quality and friendly
manner. The result has been a sustained client
retention rate of 95%. And now after all of
that… “it’s been nice to be recognized.”
