From Your Sales Team: Value
Paul D. Rochon

"When it is a question of money, everyone is of the same religion"– Voltaire (in conversation)

There is no greater topic to bind a supplier and consumer than “money”. The Ortivus North America (NA) sales team is eager to explain what value you can expect for this money. What makes this sales job fascinating is the growing diversity of our offerings, because nothing invigorates the sales person like new and exciting products. In 1931, Henry Ford said “Money is like an arm or a leg – use it or lose it”. Today, the Ford Motor Company would do well to heed this sound advice. For its part, Ortivus NA has invested itself with more developers. While we remain attentive to your needs, our product managers have their eye on industry and technology trends. As a result, we are not only rejuvenating our existing products, but expanding our public safety offering with a revolutionary new record management system (RMS) for law-enforcement.

Our existing product line has not reached (anywhere near) the end of its product lifecycle, by any objective measure. Microsoft “.NET” is the development platform of choice for many suppliers of new products in our industry. Yet Ortivus NA is now developing its next-generation products on a pre-release of the “.NET version 2” framework. Why? We want to provide you with the best possible value. While it hurts to be on the “bleeding edge”, Ortivus NA is pleased with the result so far – for all its faults, Microsoft knows to learn from its mistakes and has now delivered some truly useful additions with .NET 2.

Our RMS development is shepherded by one of our customers, and executed by a crack new team of developers unfettered by legacy software constraints. We showed a preview of the RMS at a recent public-safety user-group conference in Chicago. Our seasoned users were impressed in two ways: 1) the feature content is on target and 2) the data is beautifully organized for display. We’re confident this new addition to our product portfolio will better serve law-enforcement operations in 2006.
