Upcoming Webinar: Error Proofing Your EMS Serivce
On August 27th at 2 pm Eastern Time, Todd will present his popular presentation, Error Proofing Your EMS Service, which he presented at the Amercian Ambulance Association's Annual Conference in Las Vegas in 2007. Ortivus will be hosting the webinar presentation and offering it free of charge to the EMS industry.
Todd Hatley, of Integral Performance Solutions (IPS), has a background in clinical practice in rural, urban and air medical environments as well as healthcare training, performance improvement and administrative positions. His formal education includes an Associates degree in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, and dual Masters degrees in Business Administration and Healthcare Administration. Todd is frequently requested to speak at conferences such as the Amercian Ambulance Association's Annual Conference and many others across the country.
When asked, who would most benefit from this webinar – operations, management or office staff, Todd answered, "I have targeted the webinar more toward providing managers and quality improvement folks with an introduction to the principles of error proofing. The general concepts are applicable to all three groups (operations, management and office staff) and if implementing an aggressive error-proofing program, they will likely all need to be involved."
An overview of presentation on August 27, 2008, lasting from 2 pm to 3:30 pm EDT, follows. Anyone interested in attending the live event or receiving a recording can REGISTER HERE.
It is estimated that over 195,000 deaths each year are the result of medical errors. Unfortunately, there is little data to reflect the number of errors that take place in the out-of-hospital care environment. In this session, Todd will present a new error proofing model that integrates the three most important error proofing task:
- Identifying potential causes of errors
- Generation of potential solutions
- Prioritization and selection of error proofing solutions
