Ortivus MobiCAD for EMS Enters Market
After several successful years of working with a mobile dispatch product for the public safety market (AVeL-MobiCAD), Ortivus has developed a similar product for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) industry. MobiCAD for EMS incorporates text messaging, real time Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) and status/post updating. MobiCAD runs on a mobile computer in the vehicle, and is a mobile extension of Sweet-CAD. The mobile user is provided with a seamless data path to the dispatch center, with the ability to send and receive call specific information.
Other features that the MobiCAD application offers for the EMS market includes:
- Real-time position and status - dispatchers have precise information to make the best and most informed decisions
- Real-time mapping and navigation - easy-to-follow visuals help accentuate locations for quicker and more accurate responses
- Silent dispatch - eliminates voice radio traffic to dispatch vehicles; eliminates misunderstood voice communication
- Silent status - crew in vehicle updates status with the push of a button; no voice traffic and no action taken by the dispatcher
- Text messaging - transmit sensitive information or other communications to/from vehicles with text messaging; eliminates misunderstood voice communication
Gold Cross EMS/Air-Med, located in Augusta, Georgia, will be implementing the MobiCAD units in 38 vehicles. Ryan Goodson, Gold Cross EMS/Air-Med Communications/IT Manager, said that their objectives in implementing the MobiCAD system include gaining quicker response times for their vehicles, allowing real-time tracking of their vehicles, adding communications between the field units and dispatch, and taking Gold Cross EMS/Air-Med to the next level in EMS technology.
Ortivus is excited to launch its mobile dispatch product in the EMS market and looks forward to helping partner with other agencies, like Gold Cross EMS/Air-Med to help improve the efficiencies and effectiveness of business operations.
