Ortivus NA Represented on National EMS Industry Task Forces
(Chicago, IL) Steve Johnson, Director of Sweet Billing Services, took part in several national EMS industry task forces on June 27, 28 and 29, 2005. On June 27, Central Institute, the Rural Health Resource Center, the National EMS Management Association, the Rural EMS and Trauma Technical Assistance Center, the National Rural Health Association, and the American Ambulance Association (AAA) all co-sponsored a meeting designed to determine EMS Performance Measures, specifically in rural areas. Several organizations were asked to attend, including HRSA, NHTSA, NREMT, as well as Steve Johnson and a few other industry vendors and representatives.
The goal of the meeting was to establish two or three relevant and reliable data collection points that could enable measuring improvement/decline in patient outcomes, over time. Cooperation with software vendors will be necessary to ensure the required data collection capabilities are present within the software utilized by EMS organizations. Â
On June 28 and 29, Steve participated in the AAA Government Affairs Committee, and the AAA Reimbursement Task Force. He was invited to speak as a member of panel discussions in General Sessions on both days at the AAA Summer Reimbursement Conference.
Ortivus North America plans to remain actively involved in helping to establish industry guidelines, as well as leading the industry in software development that complies with the most up-do-date industry standards.
